The northern suburbs of Tunis offer a nice variety of beaches, each with its own atmosphere. Whether you are looking for a spot designed for the family or a wilder cove, here is our selection of the best beaches less than thirty minutes from the capital.

La Marsa Plage: for atmosphere and family

Located in the heart of the city, La Marsa beach is the most accessible and popular. Its fine sand, its often calm water (thanks to its bay shape) and the immediate proximity of the corniche, cafes and ice cream sellers make it the unmissable meeting place for families.

Gammarth: the paradise of clubs and private beaches

Continuing towards the north, Gammarth lines up luxury hotels and developed beaches. It's the destination of choice if you're looking for the comfort of a deckchair, parasol and restaurant service right on the sand. The water is exceptionally clear on days when the wind blows from the south.

Sidi Bou Said: the port and the cove

Sidi Bou Said does not have a large stretch of sand, but the small beach located near the marina has great charm. The water is very calm, protected by the jetties. The more adventurous can follow the rocky coastline to find tiny, isolated coves, perfect for snorkeling.

Amilcar and Salambo: the locals’ beaches

Between Carthage and Sidi Bou Said, these small beaches are popular with local residents. Less touristy, they offer an authentic and friendly atmosphere. It's the ideal place to watch fishermen at sunrise or share a picnic at the end of the day.
