When to go to Tunisia? The season guide
The northern coast of Tunisia benefits from a Mediterranean climate: hot and dry summers, mild and humid winters. But depending on what you are looking for – swimming, cultural visits, calm or entertainment – not all seasons are equal. Here is an overview to help you choose wisely.
Spring (March to June): the best season
From March to June, Tunisia is at its best. The temperatures are mild (20 to 28°C), nature is green and flowery, and the tourist sites are not yet saturated. This is the ideal time to visit Carthage, stroll around Sidi Bou Said and enjoy the terraces without suffering from the heat. The sea remains cool until May, but the days are perfect for exploring.
Summer (July-August): sun and entertainment
July and August are hot: temperatures often exceed 33°C and the coast is very lively. It's high season, that of festivals and long evenings on the terrace. If you come for the beach and the atmosphere, now is the time; If you prefer cultural visits, plan them early in the morning and book your accommodation well in advance.
Autumn (September-October): the sea is still warm
September and October are a well-kept secret. The sea, warmed by all summer, is at its most pleasant temperature, the crowds have dissipated and prices are falling. The days remain warm and sunny. For many travelers, it is the best combination of swimming and tranquility.
Winter (November to February): softness and calm
From November to February, Tunisia experiences a mild but sometimes rainy winter, with temperatures of 12 to 18°C. Swimming is no longer in season, but it is an ideal time for cultural visits and a quiet stay at a reduced price. Villages like Sidi Bou Said regain their authenticity, far from the summer crowds.

- For cultural visits: spring or autumn.
- For the beach and entertainment: July to September.
- For calm and low prices: late autumn and winter.
- Avoid if you fear the heat: the height of summer, from mid-July to mid-August.
